On October 9, 2026, it was in honor to attend a Ghostly Kisses concert performed with the FILMharmonique Orchestra at the Grand Théâtre de Québec Quebec City, Quebec. My history with the dream pop duo, Margaux Sauvé and Louis-Étienne Santais, goes back to discovering them through the Café del Mar ChillWave 3 collection released in 2019. The Ghostly Kisses track “Roses” is a standout on that 38 song compilation, and it sparked an investigation into the duo’s catalog. Since then, Anne and I have tracked their releases and spent countless hours listening to them and adjacent artists through the Ghostly Kisses Radio channel on Spotify.
They don’t tour the States often, and we haven’t had a chance to catch them live. When they announced this collaboration with the FILMharmonique Orchestra at a gorgeous theater in their home city, we jumped on the opportunity to finally experience their music in a live setting and fulfill our wish to visit Quebec City, and return to Montreal. Traveling to a very cool city and catching a favorite performer is a twofer that’s hard to pass up.
The concert was all I had hoped to experience and more. The theater is absolutely gorgeous with excellent sound and comfortable seats. We managed to score second row center stage tickets, putting us only a few dozen feet from Margaux and the conductor. The full orchestra sounds washed over the space as the familiar, and usually sparse, dreampop melodies emerged. Margaux’s voice floated perfectly above the atmosphere created by the full orchestra, Louis on piano, and guitarist Antoine Angers. They played two sets, followed by a two song encore that gave me physical chills at least a dozen times.
Although phones weren’t banned from the theater, the crowd respectfully kept them in pockets and purses. It was a perfect evening of perfect music by an amazing group of musicians. I would have traveled twice as far for that experience.
